On Friday,
September 13 at 10:00 a.m. Southwest 8th Street from 5th
Avenue to the bay was renamed Carlos J. Arboleya Boulevard. A dedication
ceremony was held in the intersection of Brickell Avenue and Southeast 8th
Street.
Officiating the
ceremony was State Representative Alberto Gutman and joining him were
members of the Dade Delegation as well as the Mayors from Dade County, City
of Miami, Miami Beach and Hialeah.
The State
legislators renamed the street in recognition of Carlos Arboleya’s
community commitment which has made him one of Miami’s leading citizens.
He was Chairman of
the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Discovery of America
Quincentennial Committee and a member of the National Executive Board of
the Boy Scouts of America as well as President of the South Florida
Council.
